Snoopy comes home | September 28, 2003


One of the most evocative musical moments I can remember from kid-dom is the sound of the alto flute and the weird siren as Snoopy crawls through the grass of an imagined World War One France in the Charlie Brown Halloween special. Somehow, I've always had that sound in my head. It's a fundemental moment in my musical development (so is the trombone counterpoint in the theme to "Hogan's Heros" - but that's another story)

Anyway, in the last few days, I've been playing around with looping some twenty year old 4-track cassette recordings, and then adding new stuff on top. The sound is reminiscent of the vibe of that wonderful score from the sixties.

It's like something that's been rattling around in my brain for some thirty five years has finally found a home.

New sounds from old sounds.
